Gotland sheep wool, single -ply, 100g / 600m

is a completely traceable strong yarn spun from Gotland and Leicester sheep wool , coming from Gotland, Sweden. It is dyed with on cones, only natural dyes: 100 % local wool.

The yarn is spun from pure or a mix of natural shades from Gotland sheep( dark grey) and local Leicester sheep (white) for strength and durability, and with a high twist to give extra strength. Gotland sheep fibers are shiny, but hard, and keep form nicely. The yarn has been subjected to rub testing which showed good resistance to wear. Knitted on ca. 3 mm needles, this will give a good strong texture. As the yarn has such a high twist, it is much denser than a regular yarn and therefore heavier, with less yardage to weight: 100g / ~600m. A ball of 100g makes already a shawl in some designs.

Working with bigger needles, the yarn is suitable also for other projects. This is a perfect yarn to knit together with a softer yarn, to give form and strength.

The yarn has been dyed on a light gray base and is offered in 16 lightly heathered dyed shades, as well as the undyed white and grays.

Note that this yarn is hand dyed and differences between batches do occur. The pictures are to be treated as guidelines to the shade.
